A black female soldier, stands in front of the "SHAW MEMORIAL", a monument dedicated to the brave black men of the Massachusetts Fifty-Fourth Regiment, a volunteer unit, that fought for freedom in the Union army.

She follows traditions set by her descendants who have fought in every engagement since the revolutionary war.

Even today! She salutes her descendants, Then, Now, and Always.  This greatest American sculpture of the nineteenth century is located in Boston, Mass.
